“There’s no such thing as a small event,” states Steve Vreeland, the Senior Field Representative of Idaho. Steve has been involved with Friends of NRA for nearly 23 years- 10 years as a volunteer, and just about 13 as a Field Representative. He leads 21 annual Friends of NRA events in Idaho, which have exceeded multiple fundraising records in the last four years, and have surpassed the one million net dollar mark multiple times. Even the pandemic couldn’t stop their fundraising efforts.
Steve has rallied the Idaho Friends of NRA committees together as a team. He attributes their success to their incredible volunteers, “Team Idaho” as they call it. Team Idaho consistently goes above and beyond to help each committee’s fundraising events be successful. No matter the distance, volunteers still step in to assist. Each event is treated like the best event, because they share the same vision about the future of the shooting sports. They want to help grow funding in the state as a whole, so more programs can receive grants through The NRA Foundation.
Since the beginning of Steve’s involvement with Friends of NRA, his wife Jocee has been by his side supporting the program. In Steve’s volunteering days, they both started a handful of committees. It’s all about a team effort; together they value the program because they see where the funds raised goes. From helping local shooting ranges, to supporting youth shooting programs. To this day, Jocee attends several Idaho Friends of NRA events with Steve, and does whatever she can to help out.
Steve claims, “I was not looking for a job when I became a Field Representative, but choose to work here because of the team of volunteers and the attendees that come to these events.” It truly takes a team to achieve goals. Congratulations to Team Idaho on once again raising over $1 million net dollars for the future of the shooting sports!
