Texas natives, Judy Jones Ligon and her husband, regularly attend the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. “We even make it a family affair, and the last two years we brought along our granddaughter, her husband, and their two young children,” noted Judy. The Women’s Leadership Forum and the Prayer Breakfast are the main events they look forward to each year, but of course they also enjoy stopping by all the booths and meeting many fellow patriots throughout the weekend.
This year, they made the trek to the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the Women’s Leadership Forum, Judy happened to meet two ladies- one from Tennessee and one from Florida. They discussed many things, one of them being the Friends of NRA program. The Friends program sparked Judy’s interest, so one of the ladies encouraged Judy to attend the Friends of NRA Volunteer Workshop being held that afternoon.
Judy attended the workshop led by Liz Foley, the North and East Texas NRA Senior Field Representative, and said, “Liz was very informative and inspiring. Later, I met up with her, and Liz told me about the upcoming Navarro County Friends of NRA event in Corsicana, Texas. Since it was near where we lived, I told her we would be there.”
A week later, Judy and her husband attended the Navarro County Friends of NRA event. They were impressed by the venue, the delicious food, but Judy said the best part was that she won the first gun drawing of the night from the Wall of Guns. “With my husband’s guidance, (he is the gun expert and gunsmith) we chose a Sig Sauer 9mm. It was a great experience!”
After attending the Friends event, Judy and her husband are currently looking for more Second Amendment patriots and advocates to meet with Liz and start a Friends of NRA committee in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Judy added, “I mean a town with that name is destined to have a Friends of NRA committee!”
“Thank you, Liz Foley, and your team for fighting the good fight and putting on such great events and fundraisers to protect our Second Amendment rights. We are fighting with you,” noted Judy.
