"As a first time Chair, Doug took the role seriously, not only referring to the Event Guide but always asking questions. While he had to overcome the challenges of restructuring the committee, he chose to focus on what could be done and followed the plan. One of his ideas was to do a pre-event raffle. Doug worked very hard and it turned out to be successful. He was able to sell 12 upgraded tables and get 211 attendees in the room without giving anything away for free!
Doug is very organized and works hard to include all of his committee and the community in all he does for the event. Doug has helped with a couple of gun shows on behalf of Longview Friends of NRA, and is a BSA Instructor. He is also committed to the youth in his community.
Many Volunteers of the Year have overcome challenges; I was impressed with Doug and his ability to tackle the challenges in rebuilding in an area where the committee was weak. He is working to bring back the integrity of the program and is ready to rock 2022!"
