Dennis Candler
Permian Basin, Texas Friends of NRA
Committee Member
14 years of service

Individual Activities:

  • Sold 500 banquets tickets totaling over $15,000
  • Sold 50 sponsorships bringing in $15,000
  • Raised $10,000 in pre and post-event raffles
  • Arranged multiple donations valued over $5,000

  • “Over the years, Dennis has worked nearly every gun show in the Midland/Odessa/Lubbock & San Angelo area selling raffle and event tickets. In 2016 Dennis volunteered at 14 shows; he has worked numerous promotions, and other venues tirelessly promoting Friends of NRA and the NRA Foundation. Dennis averages 20-30 hours per week leading up to, and after, the Permian Basin Event in an effort to make the event more successful each year. Dennis has volunteered so many times over the years and not just for the Permian Basin committee but also for Eastland County as well as helping out in San Angelo at the Concho Valley event; He is always willing to help out other committees, from assisting with setting up the banquet to working the raffles and games.

Dennis has been a member of the West Texas State Fund Committee at least 5 different years. He has assisted first-time applicants to fill out their grants, as well as contacting each and every grant applicant to find out more details on their grant application – making him one of the more educated grant delegates at the meetings. At local committee meetings Dennis has been instrumental in coming up with successful ideas to raise more money and is always adding to decisions with intelligent, and often humorous, insights into whatever topic is being discussed. Dennis is always the first to give of his time and is one of the hardest working volunteers in all of West Texas.”
